Happy New Year!
Before I get into the exciting things we've done in 2008 and will be
doing next year, I first want to apologize for the following:
- Making Ryan Rubin look like a bitch by outdriving his so-called monstrous
drive by about 40 yards.
- Repeatedly commenting on the size of Adam Yates weiner
- Convincing everyone that I was expecting twins. This backfired when
Leonard told his mom who ended up running into my mom at the supermarket...
needless to say it was an uncomfortable phone call.
That said, we're continuing to do some great things with your money in Matt's
name. We've verbally committed to sponsoring the Sudbury Tee-Ball League this
year (our third year) and that means over 400 families in Sudbury are familiar
with Matt's name and his legacy is living on. If you haven't seen them, the
shirts are amazing and all have Matt's name on them. My nephews will be
playing this year and on a personal level, I think it's really special to
be able to share this with them.
We'll have the opening day ceremonies in mid to late-April, and I'll send
you guys all an email in case you want to participate. It's a lot of fun and
a nice way to remember Matt and see the fruits of our labors.
We're also planning on another scholarship adminstered by the Lincoln-Sudbury
Scholarship Fund. We've had some great receipients in years past. In fact,
I'd like to share the following:
"Dear Mr. Jeffrey Cole,
Let me first start off by saying how grateful I am to have received such a
scholarship. After visiting your website and reading up on what
type of person Matt Bardsley was, I am truly honored to be able to
carry out his name. Matt sounded like he was an amazing person full of
charisma and compassion, two qualities that many do not possess. Just
like Matt, I have a group of friends who I am very close with and so I
understand what type of person he must have been to have been loved by so
many. Thank you so much, and know that the scholarship will be extremely
useful towards my future.
Amy Lieblein" (Scholarship Recipient 2008).
All of the receipients have been extremely grateful, but this
one was special because she took the to learn about Matt and really
understands why we're doing this. We all love and miss Matt,
and I urge you all to stay attached to our groups cause and
never forget just how special he was. Thank you all so much
for contributing to our efforts.
Sincerely,
Jeff Cole
