Cole's Charity Corner

March 30, 2006

Hello –

Recently Bobby, Paolo and Fliss asked me to take a more active role in getting the organizations charitable efforts started. At this point, lots of wheels are turning and I'm very confident that Matt's name will be cemented in the Lincoln- Sudbury community in some way shape or form very soon. I have made many phone calls, written many emails to various organizations seeing if there is a way that we could partner together to get something started. At this point this is what we have:

Sudbury Little League – As many of you know, Matt loved baseball. Most of my childhood memories come from being on the baseball field with Matt. Matt played baseball all the way from a 6yr old playing tee-ball up until he played at L-S. I think it would be very fitting if a donation was made from the Barbuce to Sudbury Little League. Conversations with Sudbury Little League have been ongoing, and I will let everyone know as soon as we reach an agreement.

Lincoln-Sudbury Scholarship Fund – The Lincoln-Sudbury Scholarship Fund is an organization that dedicates funding to provide scholarships to students graduating from L-S. I have been involved with discussions with these people, and I am confident that we will have a scholarship in Matt's name either for this coming May or next years graduating class. We are not sure the profile for the recipient of the scholarship, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

There are several other ideas out there that are being considered, such as a scholarship for a student to go on one of the L-S study abroad opportunities that the school offers. If you have any ideas, please let me know, we all had special memories of Matt, and I want to be able to preserve as many of those memories as possible through our charitable efforts.

I've made many phone calls to different organizations, and it's been difficult getting things started. The biggest struggle has been getting the organizations to return my calls/emails, but let's face it; you guys never called me back either, so we should be patient. I'm sure some of you may be wondering where you donations have gone, but I assure you we will be putting that money to good use in a short time.

See you all in July, and ladies, you can look but you can't touch, because this guy is married!
