Event Recap

In 2006 the Barbuce is full of holiday cheer and inquiring minds want to know why. Our 2006 Birdies for Bardsley event was a success despite speed bumps and hiccups encountered along the way. We had a really fun party, played terrible golf, raised some money, lost our innocence, and most importantly, built momentum for 2007 to be the best event yet!

A Couple of Really Sweaty Girls

Congratulations to Meaghan Wren and Serena Ciampa for running this year's Chicago Marathon in Matt's name. It is both a tremendous accomplishment and a terrific opportunity to expand the scope of our charity. All donations/sponsorships will be deposited into the charity account, which, as you can read about below, is working on some great projects. Open up your Lincoln-Sudbury-sized wallets and write those hot running ladies a check:

Cole's Charity Corner

Jeff Cole is unveiling an exciting new webcam at colefresh.com. Actually, Jeff is spearheading a dynamic, two-pronged charity effort with Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School to offer a second annual scholarship and with Sudbury Little League to assist in the development of new fields. The Barbuce foresees long term involvement in each of these projects. In addition, Jeff is actively managing a significant cash balance to achieve both maximum return and flexibility from your donations. Check it out on the web for real at www.barbuce.com/cole.asp. Cole Promotion

A matter of business if you will. Jeff Cole is currently the official Treasurer of the organization though his active presence has expanded far beyond this title such that he deserves added distinction. Therefore, the board of directors of Porky's Barbuce has voted to change his title from Treasurer to "Director of Special Operations". We ask you all to congratulate Jeff on his new title. He now has the authority to lead and direct all charity efforts, tax filings, asset and liability management, and ball scrubbing. Congratulations, Jeff. This means that the Treasurer position is vacant and needs to be filled. (see next section)

Jon Leonard Nominated as Treasurer

Porky's Barbuce Board of Directors nominates Jon Leonard to serve as Treasurer. In his capacity as Treasurer, Jon would also become a voting member of the board of directors. Over the last year, Jon's involvement in the organization has increased to include management of all accounts for the organization. Jon has performed somewhat admirably in his position despite his man love relationship with Jarvis. The Barbuce is an equal opportunity organization.

In line with our articles of organization and bylaws, you all as members have the right to nominate your own candidate to challenge Jon for the Treasurer position. Nominations must be received by the Barbuce (barbuce@gmail.com) no later than December 15, 2006. After December 15, 2006, each candidate will have the opportunity to campaign to all members of the organization as defined by attendance and participation in either of the last two years' events. Between December 15, 2006 and February 1, 2007, you may cast your vote via email to barbuce@gmail.com. Only the secretary will see your vote and he has been sworn to secrecy as to voter identities. A majority of the votes cast will elect the Treasurer at a virtual meeting on February 1, 2007 (time TBD). In the event that no candidate receives a majority of vote cast, the candidate with the plurality will be declared the winner. In the event that Jon Leonard is the only candidate nominated, he shall be declared the winner at the close of the nomination period. Jon will serve as Treasurer-elect until the close of the aforementioned business. Holla!!!!
